Miami FL Sedation Dentists
Is a Miami FL sedation dentist right for you? Sleep and sedation is changing the face of dentistry. Sleep and sedation dentistry is the modern, safe way for hard to treat dental patients to get the dental care they need. Millions of Americans don’t get the dental care they need for good oral health due to moderate to severe dental anxiety. Millions more have physical, emotional, or medical issues that prevent them for getting dental care at a traditional dental practice.
To serve these hard to treat patients throughout the southeast, Dr. David Kurtzman, DDS offers cutting edge Florida sleep and sedation dentistry. Through the use of intravenous sedation or general anesthesia, Dr. Kurtzman provides a dentistry solution to meet the needs of any patient.
Hospital Sleep Dentist
Hospital sleep dentistry and sedation dentistry is appropriate for many patients including patients who:
- Have a severe, uncontrollable gag reflex;
- Are unable to get numb with Novocain;
- Are allergic to Novocain;
- Have developmental or physical disabilities that preclude traditional dental care;
- Are too young to remain calm for the duration of dental procedures;
- Have moderate to extreme dental anxiety; and
- Need extensive work done and would prefer to have it all done in just one or two appointments.
Almost any patient who cannot tolerate traditional dentistry can get the dental care they need through sleep and sedation dentistry. Dr. Kurtzman and his staff works with patients to find the most appropriate level of sedation for that patient. The patient’s comfort and safety are the highest priority.
Hospital Dental Care
Patients who need general anesthesia receive hospital dental care in a surgical suite specially equipped for dentistry. A qualified anesthesiologist assists during the procedure by administering the anesthesia and monitoring the patient while Dr. Kurtzman performs the necessary dental procedures.
Dr. Kurtzman uses IV sedation in his office for patients who are comfortable with a moderate level of sedation. Under conscious sedation, the patient can respond to direct questions, but most patients are so relaxed and comfortable that they doze off during the procedure. The patient experiences no pain or anxiety and generally cannot remember the procedure.
